The Bennington School Inc. academic programs provide opportunities for individuals to develop and progress in a guided curriculum toward his/her potential as a student. Many students at Bennington School, Inc., for different reasons, have had limited success in traditional school settings. The academic program offers a variety of interactive activities within small group instruction, supportive peer interactions, and integrated curricula to support each student for individual success. Separate campuses for boys and girls enhance the opportunities for student to address individual challenges with trained professionals. Classrooms are designed for self-contained instruction or rotating class instruction depending on a student’s placement needs. Each student, with the support of the team, develops goals and objectives through a therapeutic treatment plan (Individual Service Plan, ISP) which is integrated throughout the school setting.
For students with disabilities eligible for Special Education, service delivery is provided with licensed special education teachers as required through the Individual Education Plan (IEP). Specialized accommodations under a 504 plan are also implemented throughout the school setting. Bennington School, Inc. is approved to service students with a variety of disabilities including Emotional Disturbance, Learning Impairment, Speech/Language Impairment, Specific Learning Disability, and other Health Impairment. Flexibility in scheduling and non-traditional approaches assist each student’s progression through the curriculum in a nurturing and supportive environment.
