Pre-Employment Skills
The Pre-Employment Skills program offers opportunity for individual student to develop employment skills through exposure to on-campus jobs and opportunities. Pre-Employment Skills are traditionally offered through the educational program and can be utilized for course earning credit at the high school level. These opportunities are reviewed periodically. Various employment tasks encourage the participating student to develop a strong work ethic, gain professional attributes of an employee, understand employee/employer relations, and develop a positive self worth.
Pre-employment skills are provided through an individualized program with one to one job shadowing. Opportunities have been available in the following departments:
Horticulture: including greenhouse tasks, planting, landscaping, gardening, etc.
Automotive: including completing auto maintenance tasks, general repairs, etc.
Custodial: including stocking, office cleaning duties, general custodial tasks, etc.
Culinary: including assisting with food preparation, kitchen maintenance, etc.
Peer Tutoring: including educational support for younger students, etc.
Building Maintenance: including painting, sheet rocking, etc.
On an individual basis, students have been provided the opportunity to complete employment skills through community based programs as well.
